College Basketball Betting Free Picks: Syracuse @ Georgetown
Added on Feb 18, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Good sized slate of college basketball betting offered by sportsbooks on Thursday, and we’ll take a look at a Big East Conference matchup between Syracuse and Georgetown. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 nationally though Syracuse is well ahead of the Hoyas in Big East play. This game will be nationally televised in the US on ESPN 2.

Primarily, we’re basing the handicap for this game on a few technical positions. Early line movement favors the Hoyas, with the current line being pushed to 2′ from a 1′ point opening line. In this case, my thinking is that its a ‘sharp’ move since experienced college hoop online betting handicappers look for situations where a team with a lower ranking in the national polls is favored over a higher ranked team or, better still, instances where an unranked team is favored over a ranked team. The situation is one of the more historically profitable over the longterm.
Additionally, Georgetown has a big revenge motive from an embarrassing loss at Syracuse in late January. Hoyas lost by 17, thanks in large part to a 28-11 free throw disparity. As any longtime basketball fan knows, things like free throw disparity have an uncanny knack of reversing themselves when the venue changes in a rematch. Georgetown is already 3-1 SU/ATS in revenge spots from a previous road loss this season. Hoyas won by 14 at home against the Orange last year and have we look for another decisive Georgetown victory here. Bet the game early as the price will likely continue to go up as the day progresses.
