College Basketball Betting Free Picks: Oklahoma State @ Texas
Added on Feb 24, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Big slate of college basketball betting opportunities on the sportsbooks boards for Wednesday, we’ll look for an opportunity in Big 12 action between Texas and Oklahoma State. These teams are currently tied in the Big 12 standings with 7-5 records although the Longhorns have a slightly better ATS record. With at least half of the Big 12 hoping for a NCAA tournament invite, these two teams need to make a late season statement to shore up their resume:
Oklahoma State at Texas
February 24, 6:00 PM Pacific
These two teams met on February 1 with Texas earning an easy 12 point victory on Oklahoma State’s home floor. They were -3 favorites that night, and we sure don’t see a 6 point home floor advantage for Texas as justified. They’ve got a solid SU record at home but at only 5-6 ATS its not like they’re blowing out every opponent that ventures into Austin. In fact, their last home game was a SU win and a pointspread loss against Texas Tech.
Texas started the season 17-0 SU but since then are only 4-6 SU as they’ve hit a good deal of adversity in conference play. The Big 12 is usually a tough conference, but it may be top to bottom the best in the country this year and also for online betting. Of greater concern has been Texas’ pointspread swoon since their torrid start. They’ve covered only 2 of their L14 games, and have posted a horrible pointspread record in conference play going 2-10 ATS.
While we have some concern about Oklahoma State’s substandard road record, we like the quick turnaround from their earlier home loss to Texas. OSU has a solid 11-7 ATS record against winning teams, and we like them to be competitive here. Texas is simply overvalued in this spot given the quality of opponent they’re facing and the ATS record they’ve posted in conference play.
