MLB Betting Free Picks: Toronto @ San Diego
Added on Jun 14, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Not much to work with from a sports betting perspective on Monday with just 3 World Cup games and 3 baseball betting opportunities on the board. We’ll take a look at one of four Interleague games as the Toronto Blue Jays head west to visit the San Diego Padres. Padres lost on Sunday but still hold on to a 1 game lead in the NL West. The Blue Jays have slumped considerably since a solid start and are now 4th in the AL East. They’ll enter this contest having lost 3 straight and 7 of their last 10.

The Blue Jays have been a solid investment on the road so far this season but have slipped somewhat away from the Rogers Centre–their record now stands at 17-16 which isn’t bad but nothing like they had earlier this season. San Diego has been one of the most underrated teams in Major League Baseball all season–they’re a team that casual fans have been waiting to ‘fold’ but they keep playing good, consistent baseball. At home, they’ve been particularly strong with a 20-13 record for +6.5 units of profit.
Toronto starter Shaun Marcum has put up respectable numbers this season, but nothing like Jon Garland who may be one of the more unsung heroes in baseball at the moment. Garland checks in with a 6-4 record and a 2.81 ERA but he’s been money in the bank at home where the Padres have won 5 of his 6 starts and he’s got a 1.85 ERA. Despite the fact that these teams aren’t exactly historical rivals, don’t forget that Garland came over from the American League and he’s got a long record of dominating the Blue Jays–his teams have won 13 of his 16 starts against Toronto. The linesmakers have yet to catch up with how good this Padres team is, and we’ll gladly back them as short priced home favorites.
