Interleague baseball play continues this week, and sportsbooks will be offering a full slate of MLB betting opportunities for Tuesday night.  We’ll take a look at the biggest matchup on the card as the Philadelphia Phillies head to the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees in a rematch of the 2009 World Series.  Yankees are currently tied for first place in the AL East while the Phillies are in third place in the NL East behind the resurgent Mets and Braves.

Philadelphia (Halladay) at New York Yankees (Sabathia)

We’ve got nothing but respect for the Phillies Roy Halladay who has been sensational this season with an 8-4 record and a 1.96 ERA.  In terms of the starting pitching matchup, he’s got much better individual numbers than the Yankees C.C. Sabathia who is 6-3 with a 4.01 ERA.  Having said that, we’re all over the Yankees here for a number of reasons starting with their superior recent form.  New York has finally run down the pesky Tampa Bay Rays by winning 7 of their last 10 games.  They’ve been dominating at Yankee Stadium with a 22-7 +9.5 unit record.  Phillies have lost money on the road at 16-16 (-2.8 units) and have lost 6 of their last 10.

The biggest edge we see in this matchup involves Philadelphia’s horrendous record against left handed pitching.  Phillies are 5-9 -10.1 units against southpaws, and they’re facing a very good one tonight.  Halladay won’t have any surprises for the Yankees after his long tenure in the AL.  All in all, we’re getting an incredibly low price on the Yankees at home in what has been a bad pitching matchup for the Phillies this season.

Bet New York Yankees (Sabathia) -125 over Philadelphia (Halladay)
