MLB Betting Free Picks: Atlanta @ Minnesota
Added on Jun 11, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
The next month should be crazy at sportsbooks with the World Cup getting underway. We’ll have some individual game plays on the biggest soccer competition on the planet, but for now we’ll focus on baseball betting. We’ve got interleague play this weekend and we’ll look at a game between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves. The Twins are threatening to run away with a mediocre AL Central while Atlanta has scrapped their way into first place in the NL East after a slow start.
Atlanta Braves (Tim Hudson) at Minnesota Twins (Francisco Liriano)
June 11, 5:10 PM Pacific
Both of these teams have earned their division lead with strong play at home, though both have struggled somewhat on the road. Atlanta has the best home record in baseball at 19-6 but are only 16-20 -4.5 units on the road. As a road underdog in this price range (+100 to +125) they’re 2-6 -3.6 units. The Twins are 20-10 at home and 15-15 on the road. Minnesota has performed their best as a home favorite of -100 to -125 with a record of 10-1 +8.7 units.
This pitching matchup also favors Minnesota. The Braves are only 4-8 on the road against lefthanders and they’re facing a very good one here in Francisco Liriano. Liriano checks in with a 3.10 ERA and 2.25 at home. The Twins have won 7 of his 11 starts this season. Tim Hudson is no slouch himself with a 2.44 ERA, but the Braves are only 4-4 in his road starts. The Twins have cleaned up in Interleague play in recent years (28-11 +16.3 units L3 years) and this is the best matchup of the series from a sports betting perspective. We may look for an opportunity to use the Twins again this weekend, but we’ll gladly take Liriano getting a very reasonable price.
Bet Minnesota (Liriano) -130 over Atlanta (Hudson)
