Back in 2000, with a lifetime of experience in the boxing game and a catchy phrase, famed figure Mills Lane founded Let’s Get It On Promotions with the vision of one day promoting a world champion. Five years later, Terry and Tommy, Mill’s two sons became active in their father’s company with the same hopes of taking a fighter to and capturing a championship.

Super middleweight contender Jessie Brinkley turned pro back in 1997 with the hopes of one day becoming champion of the world.

As the two forged a partnership, the two dreams may simultaneously become a reality as Brinkley challenges the Canadian Lucien Bute for his IBF Super Middleweight title this Friday night in Montreal.

Brinkley (35-5, 22 KOs) and the Lane brothers hooked up in 2007 not long after Brinkley dropped a pair of fights to Joey Spina and Robin Reid. Brinkley was in need of a break and the Lane’s were in need of a headliner. With Let’s Get It On Promotions based in Reno and Brinkley born and raised in nearby Yerington, Nevada, it seemed like a pretty good fit.

“We needed a headliner for our first show. It just made sense to have Jesse fight in Northern Nevada again.” Says Let’s Get It On Promotions’ Terry Lane. “We matched him against a good fighter, Dallas Vargas, for his return. Jesse dominated Vargas, and we sold out the venue. It was clear that Jesse still had the goods, and was an attraction in Reno. We knew that we had something special.”

Since the win over Vargas, the Brinkley/Lane tandem has put together seven consecutive wins over the likes of Otis Griffin, Curtis Stevens and in-state rival, Joey Gilbert. It should also be noted that six of those seven fights have been in Reno. It’s clear that making big fights for their fighters isn’t enough for the Lane brothers. They also want their loyal supporters in the Reno to be able to witness the triumphs of their local hero in Brinkley.

As Brinkley gets ready to partake in his first ever bid for a world title against Bute, he’d like to repay the favor for the fans that have come out to see him over the last three years.

“I want to bring a world title home.” says Brinkley. “It would mean so much to me. My family, friends, fans and supporters back home deserve it too.”

As Brinkley enters the squared circle on Friday night he’ll be sporting the Stars and Striped on the front of his trunks and the state flag of Nevada on the back. Proving that, as recently mentioned in a press release put out by Let’s Get It On Promotions, Brinkley is Nevada personified.

Even with Las Vegas being the “Boxing Capital of the World”, I can’t recall another fighter or promoter that have tried so hard to bring home championship gold to the Silver State.
