-As has seemingly been the case as of late, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making headlines for his antics out of the ring and having nothing at all to do with boxing. It was reported earlier today by TMZ.com that a Las Vegas judge issued an arrest warrant for his involvement in the alleged assault of a private security officer last month.

The officer, Shayne Smith, issued Mayweather a couple of citations and then was allegedly poked (yes, poked) by the five division world champion.

Mayweather, one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world today, is also facing several criminal charges stemming from a domestic dispute involving the mother of his children back in September. Mayweather is set to appear in court on January 24 for that particular case.

More to come as the story develops.

-WBC Welterweight title holder Andre Berto recently voiced his displeasure regarding Sugar Shane Mosley being the front-runner to challenge Manny Pacquiao next year. Ironically, Berto had no problem and found Mosley to be an adequate opponent for their once scheduled bout which would have taken place in January of last year.

-Golden Boy Promotions released a press release including the weigh in results for tomorrow night’s 2010 season finale of Telefutura’s Solo Boxeo event. Weights are:

Junior Middleweight: Anthony Martinez (147 lbs.) vs Jaime Orrantia (149 lbs.)
Lightweight: Angel Torres (133.5 lbs.) vs Ronald Hurley (131 lbs.)
Junior Lightweight: Christopher Martin (126 lbs.) vs Yogli Herrera (129 lbs.)
Junior Lightweight: Ronny Rios (128 lbs.) vs Adolfo Landeros (128 lbs.)
Junior Welterweight: Rolando Perez (140 lbs.) vs Federico Martinez (140.75 lbs.)

-Following his dominant performance over countryman Audley Harrison, David Haye was ordered by the WBA to defend his title against Ruslan Chagaev. As evidenced with his sometimes absurd attempts to land a fight with either Klitschko brother, Haye recently revealed that even if the Klitschko showdown never comes to fruition, he plans on retiring from the squared circle in October of next year.

-Following his one sided win over Lovemore N’Dou, Mexican phenom Saul “Canelo” Alvarez‘ promotional team revealed that he will return to the squared circle in March in an HBO televised event most likely to be held in Los Angeles where he has gained a loyal fan-base. Potential opponents for Alvarez that have been mentioned are WBA Welterweight title holder Vyacheslav Senchenko and if that doesn’t come together Matthew Hatton, younger brother of former champion Ricky Hatton, was also mentioned as an opponent.

-Jorge Rodrigo Barrios of Argentina will no longer be sharing the ring with Erik Morales who returns to the ring to further his comeback on Saturday as Barrios was denied permission to leave his homeland following legal issues stemming from his vehicular manslaughter case. Morales will now put his WBC Silver light welterweight title on the line against Francisco Lorenzo of the Dominican Republic. Morales looks to become the first Mexican fighter to win titles in four different weight classes.

-Talks of World Middleweight Champion Sergio Martinez possibly taking on 154 lb. champ Miguel Cotto have ceased and the latest is that Martinez would possibly be facing Andy Lee in an HBO televised event on March 12.

-Former world title holder Eric Morel of Puerto Rico plans to make his return to the ring in February of next year ultimately hoping to land a shot of one of the bantamweight title holders or possibly with one of Showtime’s Bantamweight Tournament participants. Morel recently scored an eight round decision victory over Juan Jose Beltran last weekend.

-Tomorrow night in Miami Cuban heavyweight hopeful Oldanier Solis will take another step in his championship journey when he takes on Ray Austin in a 12 round bout in a WBC Heavyweight title eliminator at the American Airlines Arena. Weights for the event took place earlier today and are as follows:

Heavyweight: Odlanier Solis (260 lbs.) vs. Ray Austin (239.75 lbs)
IBF Light Heavyweight Championship: Tavoris Cloud (175 lbs.) vs. Fulgencio Zuniga (174 lbs.)

Junior Welterweight: Angelo Santana (137.75 lbs.) vs. John David Charles (137 lbs.)
Heavyweight: Erkan Teper (233 lbs.) vs. Donato DeMartiis (219.5 lbs.)
Cruiserweight: Pedro Rodriguez (195.25 lbs.) vs. TJ Cook (198.5 lbs.)

-Tonight former junior welterweight title challenger Dmitriy Salita made it back to back wins following his first round TKO loss to Amir Khan last year. Salita needed just three rounds to dispose of replacement fighter James Wayka with a brutal body attack to claim the New York State Welterweight Title.

The great king Khan will destroy that blasphemer Froid if ever they fight. Fraud is nothing but the greediest, along with that deceitful Bitchard Schaefer. Flawed Jr will pay for his crimes soon enough.

I’m a huge fan of Khan who may be the most exciting fighter on the planet at the moment. That being said, I don’t see any way he could compete with Mayweather’s handspeed and defense. Mayweather may not be a great role model, but he’s on a short list of the most insanely talented fighters I’ve seen in my life.

King Khan is a good fighter that provides exciting fights. His last fight proved he can take a punch from the best of ‘em. Thant being said, it isn’t a good sign that he was hit as much as he was by Maidana who telegraphs his shots.

If he continues to win, Khan is, no doubt, well on his way to becoming a huge star in the sport. But as of right now, he’s nowhere near ready to take of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
