NFL Week 10 Predictions: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
Added on Nov 13, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
NFL Week 10 features a matchup in the wide open NFC West between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is 3-5 SU but are still in the playoff hunt since the division is currently led by the 4-4 Seahawks and Rams. Arizona has struggled to solidify the quarterback position following the retirement of Kurt Warner–both Max Hall and Derek Anderson have played this year and while neither has looked sensational it looks like Anderson is the starter at least for the time being.

It’s no secret that the Seattle Seahawks play much better at home than on the road. This year Seattle is 3-1 SU at home, 1-3 SU on the road. The Seahawks played without Matt Hasselbeck last week (concussion) and were slaughtered at home by the New York Giants 41-7. The game wasn’t even as close as that lopsided score would suggest–the Giants led 35-0 at halftime and extended the lead to 41-0 before coach Tom Coughlin called off the dogs. Hasselbeck should be back in the lineup here but that hasn’t exactly helped Seattle in the past when they play on the road. The situation also removes some of the urgency that teams usually feel after an embarrassing loss– it’s too easy in this case for Seattle to chalk the Giants’ debacle up to Hasselbeck’s absence and QB Charlie Whitehurst’s inexperience.
We’re not overly excited about Arizona, but at this price on their home field they’re the play–if for no other reason than the necessity to go against Seattle on the road. Since 2008, Seattle is 4-16 SU/6-14 ATS away from the ‘Jet City’ and are 0-4 SU/ATS as a road dog of 3 or less. They’re 2-5 ATS playing in domes and haven’t played well in the middle part of the season in recent years with a 2-9 SU/3-7-1 ATS record in November. The Cardinals have been excellent in revenge spots, going 9-2 ATS and are 4-0 ATS after 2 or more SU losses. Arizona still has plenty of issues, but laying a FG against such a horrible road team they’re definitely the play. Cards have won and covered 4 of the L5 meetings overall and the last 2 meetings at home.
