Percy Harvin Still Dealing With Migraines

Coming off a game in which he caught a career high nine passes, it looked as if Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin was ready to assume a much larger role in the wake of Randy Moss’s abrupt exit, and Sidney Rice’s absence due to hip surgery. In order for that to happen, Harvin will have to shake off another nasty migraine which caused him to miss yesterday’s practice.

Upon being diagnosed with sleep apnea a few months ago, Harvin’s headaches had been under control, until now. It’s still too early to know if he’ll be available for Sunday’s showdown at Chicago. Therein lies the problem. Migraines are unpredictable and liable to flare up at any time.

Should Harvin not be able to play, the Vikings will be left with a not-so intimidating corps of receivers that includes Bernard Berrian, Greg Lewis, Greg Camarillo and Hank Baskett. Of those four, only Camarillo has caught a touchdown pass this season. This could pose a major problem in what amounts to a must-win game for the purple and gold against the rival Bears.

In addition, Sidney Rice might still be a week away from returning to the lineup. However, I wouldn’t be at all shocked to see him suit up on Sunday, especially if Harvin is still suffering from symptoms.

So, the drama in Minnesota continues. I can’t recall a 3-5 team garnering this many headlines. Between Childress, Favre and Moss, it’s no wonder Percy’s brain is fried. Maybe next year when the coach and quarterback are gone, he’ll finally be able to rest his weary head.
