Fantasy Football: Should you Drop Randy Moss?

The Minnesota Vikings may not be making much of a splash this season as they have struggled to get anything going this year despite having three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre back under center for his farewell season.
Even though only having two wins on the season is exactly what Brett Favre and company were expecting this late in the season, the Vikings did make a huge trade recently when they acquired superstar and perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss from the New England Patriots.
This was a brilliant move by the Minnesota Vikings as they have been able to fill the void left by Pro Bowl wideout Sidney Rice who has been recovering from hip surgery all season long. Without Rice downfield, Favre hasn’t had that threat to go deep on every possession which has made it very difficult to get anything going offensively when they aren’t handing it off to arguably the best running back in the league in Adrian Peterson.
Even though it seemed like a dream scenario to have Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and Randy Moss all playing on the same team, the superstar combination didn’t last long as the Minnesota Vikings have waived the superstar wide receiver after losing to his former team in the New England Patriots in Week 8.
This was a surprise to say the least, but the real question for fantasy football owners now is whether or not to keep or drop Randy Moss.
Personally, I believe all Randy Moss owners have realized up to this point that he isn’t putting up the numbers he used to, but no one would be crazy enough to drop him. There is no question that Moss will sign with another team this season, but whether or not he will put up good fantasy numbers from here on out remains to be seen and with the playoffs on the horizon I am not sure he is worth the risk.
If you are deep at receiver with at least two wideouts you can count on week in and week out then I suggest you keep him, but if not, drop him and start looking for a decent replacement as you might be waiting for something that might never come.
