Everyone expected UFC co main event Condit vs Hardy to be a shoe in for the fight of the night bonus. One fighter did get a bonus, and it was Condit for beautiful first round knock out. Both fighters threw the same punch, at the exact same time, and both landed almost simultaneously. I said in a previous post on sportsbettingworld.com, had Hardy’s punch been just an inch or two closer, we could have been witness to a double knock out. However, just one fighter went down , and after suffering the first knock out of his career, Dan Hardy is talking about it.

“That’s the nature of the sport, sometimes you get caught sleeping and it’s never happened to me before, it was my first one, It was a tough lesson, I didn’t enjoy it much but I’m already back in the gym ready for the next fight. 2011 is going to be a better year.”

Hardy had a rough, but also good, 2010. Many accused him of him trash talking his way to a title shot with Georges St Piere, but he also happened to be winning fight after fight. He put himself on the map prior to the GSP fight, but he was unable to mount any real offense against him. He was defeated by unanimous decision, and sent back to the drawing board to work on his ground game. It was then announced he would be fighting Carlos Condit, and every hardcore MMA fan’s face lit up. The Condit/Hardy fight would almost assuredly never see the judges score card, and it didn’t. It never left the first round.

“Yeah, I can’t take it away from him it was a great shot, but My hand wasn’t up where it should have been, and my punch didn’t land as clean as his did. It’s a lesson learned but I’ll catch him back no doubt. Every time I lose I always get it back one way or the other so he’s got it coming to him.”

Some people have been speculating he will be cut from the UFC, and I think thats absurd to think. He is a stand out British fighter, and is even more dynamic then Michal Bisping. Expect to see him back in Octagon soon, and it would be unusual for him not to get a top fighter to compete against. When asked who he would like to face Hardy said “To be honest I haven’t, I’ve not really got my eye on anyone, It’s just whoever the UFC see fit to put me up against. I’ve not heard anything from them yet but I’m expecting to in the next couple of weeks.”
