Fantasy Football Injury Update: Tony Romo Out 6-8 Weeks
Added on Oct 26, 2010 by Barry in
This season has been an absolute nightmare for the Dallas Cowboys as they came into the year full of confidence with Super Bowl aspirations and have only been able to win one game in the first seven weeks of the season. As if living up to owner Jerry Jones expectations week in and week out weren’t enough pressure for America’s team as everyone’s job could quite possibly be on the line, now things have gotten even worse as Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo could be done for the rest of the season with a broken left clavicle.
Initial reports of Tony Romo’s broken left clavicle have the Cowboys gunslinger out for the 6 to 8 weeks, but being Week 8 and Dallas only having one win on the year so far, the consensus is that he could be done for the year as backup quarterback Jon Kitna will take over from here on out.
So if Tony Romo is your number one guy at the quarterback position for your fantasy football team you should start looking at your league’s free agents because he isn’t coming back anytime soon and even if he does he will almost certainly be rusty and could end up hurting your team rather than helping.
Here is a list of possible pick ups to replace Tony Romo:
Chad Henne, Miami Dolphins
Probably the best option for a replacement for Tony Romo is Chad Henne. He may not put up monster numbers just yet, but he definitely ability and will continue to get better with every passing week.
Tavaris Jackson, Minnesota Vikings
Brett Favre’s playing status for this week against the New England Patriots is up in the air, but how many quarterbacks can really play with two fractures in their ankle?
The Silver Fox may be the very definition of Ironman in the NFL, but he isn’t Superman and will almost certainly sit and pave the way for the beginning of the Tavaris Jackson era.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills
Even though the Buffalo Bills are arguably one of the worst teams in the league right now, they have a pretty good player under center as Ryan Fitzpatrick has proven he can be very valuable to fantasy football owners as he continues to put up big numbers.
