Now that the dust has settled in the wake of UFC 121, and everyone is asking what is next for Brock Lesnar, Junior Dos Santos is just happy knowing who is next opponent is. Obviously Cain Velasquez is still riding the high of his crown, and enjoying being the “baddest man on the planet,” JDS is commenting on the fight he was cage side for. “It was an exciting fight to watch, and it was beautiful to see. Brock Lesnar came on strong to start the fight, but in my opinion he got tired. Cain Velasquez was smart and showed his superiority. He started calm until the right moment to turn the fight and win by TKO.”

Many people are asking themselves how anyone could beat Cain Velasquez after the dominating performance he put on at UFC121. When you watch the four minute and twelve second fight, its hard to see what Brock’s game plan was. However, Cain weathered the early rush everyone was expecting, and stayed calm even when he was on top finishing Lesnar. He was still picking his shots, and those are the things that champions do.

Junior continued “I’ll give my best, and even a little more to get that belt and bring it to Brazil on my waist, I will continue in training and soon, when we know the date of the fight, I’ll move my camp to the United States. I have personal wrestling coaches there to help me, and then I’ll train hard and get that belt.”

Junior Dos Santos is walking into the title fight with a 12 and 1 record, and a seven fight win streak. He has never lost in the UFC. Cain has superior wrestling skills, but there are two things to remember. The first is that JDS is a Brown Belt under Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Its not like Junior isn’t working on his wrestling in gym. Middleweight Mark Munoz is his wrestling coach so you shouldn’t assume he is not good on the ground. We haven’t seen JDS on the octagon floor at all, as he has been just fine finishing all of his opponents except Roy Nelson.

The date for the Velasquez vs Dos Santos fight has not been set. In my opinion it could be as early as February as long as Cain hasn’t sustained any injuries from the fight. My guess he will be cleared to fight quickly with no suspension at all, and the date will be up to the UFC. I wouldn’t expect the UFC to hurry this one, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they did another mini-series/documentary before the fight.
