There’s Been A Kyle Boller Sighting In Oakland

How bad have things gotten in Oakland? Pretty darn bad. Kyler Boller — yes that Kyle Boller — may get the start for the Raiders on Sunday due to injuries to Jason Campbell and Bruce Gradkowski. It seems like Boller has been around for ten or twelve years, but believe it or not, he’s only in his seventh season. From first-round pick in 2003 to third-string journeyman in 2010. Needless to say, it’s been a long strange trip for Kyle.
I still remember the pre-draft video of Boller throwing a ball sixty yards from his knees and thinking, “What the hell does this have to do with whether he’ll be a good NFL quarterback?” The answer to that would be, nothing. Boller turned out to be another one of those workout warriors with a million dollar arm and a ten cent head. Kinda like Ryan Leaf, but not quite as disastrous.
At least Boller has kept his nose clean off the field. He even landed former Miss California Carrie Prejean, whom he married in July. So, when he tosses three picks in Denver on Sunday and the Raiders lose, he can take solace in knowing his smoking hot wife will be waiting at home to comfort him in defeat. And you thought being a scrub NFL signal caller was a bad thing.
I wish Boller the best of luck should he be called to duty. Quarterbacks donning the sliver and black have had short life expectancies as of late. Hey, isn’t JaMarcus Russell still available?
