New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will miss Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills as he continues to recover from a hamstring strain.  Revis hasn’t practiced all week and has been downgraded to ‘expected to miss’ on the latest NFL injury report.  Jets’ coach Rex Ryan didn’t completely rule him out when he spoke to the media on Wednesday, but that was more of an effort to comply with the league’s draconian rules on what coaches say than any sort of legit hope:

“I don’t feel great about Darrelle right now. I don’t want to rule him out yet because I don’t want to get fined by the league if he plays.”

Currently, doctors expect Revis to need two more weeks of rest to get back to 100% though that doesn’t preclude him trying to play at home against Minnesota next Monday night.

With rookie Kyle Wilson struggling to fill Revis’ spot in the lineup look for the Jets to move Drew Coleman into the starting lineup.  Coleman and Wilson rotated with the first team defense in New York’s win at Miami on Monday, with Coleman bolstering his case by hauling in a game clinching interception in the end zone.  Ryan likes what he’s seen from Coleman:

“He closed out the game pretty well. He deserves a look in there. We’ll see how it develops as the week goes on.”

About Wilson, who has had problems getting beat on coverage and incurring penalties Ryan concluded:

“He’s playing green right now.”

Wilson didn’t disagree and didn’t take the easy shot that ‘it’s not easy being green’.  He did suggest that some positive visualization might help his performance:

“I have to be a smarter player and envision myself making those plays out there in the future.”

The Jets did get some good injury news about outside linebacker Calvin Pace, who hasn’t played since breaking his foot in the preseason.  He did some light work on Wednesday and is expected to return to practice today.
