Vincent Jackson, star receiver for the San Diego Chargers and current well-known holdout, has already been ruled out the first three games of the season. And, he’ll be out for another three weeks if one of the following doesn’t happen by 6:00 PM EST.

He can either re-sign with the Chargers, or be traded to another team in need of an elite talent receiver with a troubled past.

Jackson was suspended this year for the first four games of the year for violating the leagues policies after already being on close watch. However, another situation loomed over Jackson this off-season: a new contract.

He’s been pleading for a new contract, and now that he’s in the final year of a contract that pays him about as much as most teams pay their 3rd receiver, he wants more. A lot more.

And the Chargers aren’t biting. In one corner, you can side with Jackson, as he deserves to be paid as one of the leagues top receivers. In the other, the Chargers aren’t ready to heavily invest in a player who could be suspended for a longer period of time in the future, and someone who shouldn’t reflect the franchise.

Either way, it looks like Jackson doesn’t want to be in San Diego, but the Chargers are unwilling to trade him.

Currently, the rumor is that the Chargers are asking for a 2nd and 3rd rounder, which is a bit much for a guy who can play only 14 more weeks for your team, probably isn’t game ready, and will be demanding a huge contract in return.

The Chargers have until 6:00 PM EST tonight to make a move, and as of now, it’s looking more and more likely that Jackson won’t be getting moved, as the two top contenders for him, have either said they don’t want him anymore (St. Louis Rams) or have made other moves (Vikings signing Hank Baskett).
