So, how’s the Super Bowl pick coming? If you were a fan of the Cowboys, Colts, or Bengals, you had a disappointing start to your team of choice’s season. All three suffered disappointing losses in week one, and while it’s not smart to judge week one on how the season may go, it can be a prime indicator of what the future could hold for the teams.

While I won’t touch on the Bengals or Colts, because neither are hosting Super Bowl this year and aren’t “America’s team” based on the country’s general fan base. The Colts lost a division match-up to a team they’ve dominated in the past, and the Bengals just plain got dominated by the Patriots.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, were facing a division foe who I think has the ability (and I believe will) to win the division in the Redskins. The head coach has a Super Bowl and the quarterback has reached the Super Bowl in past, neither of which the Cowboys could claim for themselves.

Still, with a sexy offense “on paper” and all the hype surrounding the team, the Cowboys were the clear-cut favorite to win this game over the usually average Redskins team.

Tony Romo didn’t play that bad…on paper. 282 passing yards to eight different receivers and a touchdown. The running game wasn’t bad…on paper. Combined 103 yards rushing against one of the top run defenses.

But a fumble at the end of the half and all around sloppy play when the potential to score was there was the difference for the Cowboys, which has beena  reoccurring theme for this organization for the entire Wade Phillips’s era.

So, now, after so many crowed the Cowboys as the eventual champs and many others claimed they were a “lock” to win NFC East, my prediction for the NFC East to be won by the Redskins looks a little better now.

But more importantly, the Cowboy’s disappointing lost means that betters will struggle to stick to their guns on the Cowboys Super Bowl pick, and that it should an exciting, intriguing, and wild season for the 2010 season.
