Confirmed by Sherdog.com, budding lightweight contenders Joe Lauzon and George Sotiropoulos have agreed to square off at UFC 123. The bout will have major title implications as Sotiropoulos is currently 6-0 in the UFC and Lauzon is coming off arguably the best performance in his career over Gabe Ruedigar at UFC 118.
Former middleweight TUF winner Kendall Grove announced via Twitter that his next bout will be against former title challenger Demian Maia at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. Grove is fortunate to be featured on Spike TV after his last split decision win over Goran Reljic was bumped from the televised prelims of UFC 116 after Grove had made some comments criticizing the network. Maia most recently scored a unanimous decision win over Mario Miranda at UFC 118.
According to MMAJunkie, a bout between light heavyweights Brandon Vera and Thiago Silva is in the works for UFC 125. Both fighters are coming off of injury induced layoffs. Vera suffered fractures to his orbital bone after taking a superhuman elbow from Jon Jones that stopped their fight in the first round. Silva has been dealing with a lingering back injury that has plagued him for the past year.
