Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Week 1: Quarterbacks
Added on Sep 07, 2010 by Barry in
#1 Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (@ Kansas City Chiefs)
During his time with the San Diego Chargers, Philip Rivers has quickly turned into one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL with the ability to light the scoreboard on a weekly basis with the Chargers potent offensive weapons at his disposal.
In Week 1, the San Diego Chargers will take on the division rival Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the Chiefs have beefed up their defensive with rookie safety Eric Berry (Tennessee), Rivers should have the best fantasy numbers of any fantasy quarterback.
#2 Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (@ Washington Redskins)
The Dallas Cowboys offense will be amongst the best in the league this season as Tony Romo will have arguably the best receiving corps in the NFL at his disposal.
Even though Week 1 will be a division rivalry game against the Washington Redskins, Mike Shanahan’s team is still in the middle of a transition process and will almost certainly struggle against the Cowboys potent offense.
With that being said, Tony Romo could be in for a big day!
#3 Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts (@ Houston Texans)
No matter what team the Indianapolis Colts play from week to week, four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning has a great opportunity to blow up as a fantasy QB.
The Indianapolis Colts first opponent during the regular season will be the division rival Houston Texans. Even though the Texans could be playoff bound this season, they will almost certainly fall victim to Manning in Week 1.
#4 Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears (vs. Detroit Lions)
Jay Cutler may be coming off the worst season of his NFL career (26 interceptions), but he can’t go wrong against one of the worst defensives in the NFL in Week 1.
#5 Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers (@ Seattle Seahawks)
Picking Alex Smith to start in Week 1 is a bit of stretch, but against the Seattle Seahawks defense he could have some impressive fantasy numbers.
Other notable QBs: Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings; Vince Young, Tennessee Titans; Matt Moore, Carolina Panthers; Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos
