Muhammed “King Mo’ Lawal Injured

First reported by Sherdog’s Loretta Hunt, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed Lawal will be forced to take a nine-month hiatus from the sport after suffering a knee injury last Saturday in his title losing effort against Rafael Cavalcante.
Lawal will undergo surgery to replace both his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
“Mo wanted to take one more fight, but we decided that this injury should be attended to first,” said Lawal’s manager Ryan Parsons.
Lawal won the title earlier this year by out-wrestling Gegard Mousasi for five rounds to earn a unanimous decision, but lost it by third-round TKO on Saturday in his first defense.
“Mo danced to the ring and had to be carried out,” stated Parsons.
