While the focus of the sports betting world is on the World Cup and tonight’s NBA Finals Game 7, there’s plenty of baseball on the board as well. We’ll take a look at an Interleague game between the Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins. The Twins are currently in first place in the AL Central, while the Rockies are in fourth place in a very tough NL West. This game goes at 10:10 AM Pacific from Target Field:
Colorado Rockies (Jimenez) at Minnesota Twins (Liriano)
Great pitching matchup today with Ubaldo Jimenez on the hill for Colorado, while Minnesota counters with their ace lefthander Francisco Liriano. Twins have been excellent at home this season with a 23-12 record for +3.8 units of profit. Colorado has struggled on the road at 14-20 -6.3 units. One thing the Rockies have been good at is hitting left handed pitching–they’re 10-9 against southpaws with a .277 batting average and putting up 4.4 runs per game. On the other hand, Minnesota has hit everyone well at home with a .287 team batting average and 5.1 runs per game.
It’s hard to find much fault with Francisco Liriano’s performance this season–the Twins are 8-4 in his starts and he boasts a solid 2.90 ERA. At home, Minnesota has won 3 of his 5 outings and he’s got a 2.00 ERA. As good as that is, however, it pales against the Cy Young level season that Ubaldo Jimenez is putting together. Jimenez has a 1.16 ERA overall, with an even more impressive 0.76 mark on the road. The Rockies have won 7 of his 8 road starts and while he’s not been *quite* that impressive in his last three outings (with ‘only’ a 2.05 ERA) Colorado won all three. Ultimately, we can’t pass up the opportunity to back Jimenez at a very reasonable price.
Bet Colorado (Jimenez) -110 over Minnesota (Liriano)
