MLS Soccer Betting Free Picks: Los Angeles @ Columbus

We’ll be looking at soccer betting much more frequently as we head into the World Cup in early June. We’ll also feature betting positions on the US Major League Soccer circuit and that’s what we’ve got today. This is arguably the regular season ‘game of the year’ as the West leading Los Angeles Galaxy play the East leading Columbus Crew.

This is the latest in the season a pair of undefeated teams have matched up in MLS history, and both are exceptional. Columbus is 4-0 at home, while Los Angeles has 4 wins and draw on the road. Columbus has only allowed two home goals against this year, but the Galaxy have only allowed 2 goals against in all games including none in five road games. For most of the year Los Angeles has been an offensive force as well, and they’re the only team in the MLS with a double digit goal differential (+14).
Unfortunately for them, the bulk of their offense is with the US National Team preparing for World Cup play. Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle lead the league in assists and goals respectively, and the Galaxy’s offense has struggled in their absence. The defense has remained solid, but they’re having to play much more conservative soccer without their offensive playmakers. Were Buddle and Donovan in the lineup, this would be a play on the Galaxy and they’ve got a good chance to winning as it is. A better position, however, is to play the game Under the total. Goals will be at a premium, and this could end in a scoreless draw.
