NBA Betting Picks: Portland @ New Orleans
Added on Mar 29, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Sportsbooks offering a number of good NBA betting opportunities for Saturday, and we’ll take a look at a Western Conference battle between the New Orleans Hornets and Portland Trailblazers. The Blazers have a good grip on a playoff spot despite a ridiculous number of injuries this season. New Orleans, meanwhile, may be out of the running in 11th place 9 1/2 games out of the playoff picture.

Tough schedule spot for Portland, off a home game against Dallas and with a bigger matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on deck for Sunday. Not only is OKC one of the teams Portland is trying to run down to improve their playoff position, don’t forget the rivalry dates back years since the Thunder *used* to be the Seattle Supersonics. Chris Paul is back for New Orleans, though he’s having his minutes limited as he works back into game shape. That’s not a major issue, since Darren Collison has performed exceptionally in his absence. Thunder won the last meeting between the two teams in Portland, so they can compete with the Blazers. They’re not going to make the playoffs, so this is a much bigger game for the home team than it is for Portland who certainly has ‘bigger fish to fry’ in both the shorterm and longterm. Portland playing good basketball down the stretch, but they still struggle on the road against top level opposition. Not sure New Orleans qualifies, but they’ll but up a ‘top level’ effort in this spot.
