College Basketball Betting Picks: Georgetown @ West Virginia
Added on Mar 02, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Not much in the way of NCAA hoops action on sports betting sites boards for Monday, but we’ve got a college basketball betting position in a Big East battle between Georgetown and West Virginia. West Virginia is tied for 3rd in the conference with Pittsburgh at 11-5 while the Hoyas are 7th with a 9-7 mark. Overall, Georgetown is 19-8 SU while West Virginia is 22-6.

West Virginia has become a very formidable team under Bob Huggins and particularly at home, where the Mountaineers are 13-2 SU on the season. The problem is that they’ve become somewhat overvalued as a pointspread investment. West Virginia is 11-16 ATS overall, 11-15 ATS as a favorite and are 5-9 against the money at home. Georgetown is a mediocre pointspread team at best, but they do have a winning record on the road at 5-4 ATS as well as a 12-11 ATS record overall.
Georgetown is stuck on 19 wins and desperately want to get to the 20 win plateau. West Virginia has already reached that mark, and its not uncommon for teams to ‘let down’ somewhat after they reach 20 regular season wins. Actually, the Mountaineers looked like they experienced something of a letdown on hitting *19* wins as they’re just 3-3 SU since. Not a good tactical matchup for West Virgina–Bob Huggins hasn’t been happy with his team’s halfcourt defense all year long and that’s Georgetown’s bread and butter. Taking the points in competitive Big East battles is never a bad strategy and with the Hoyas looking for win #20 they’ll definitely put the Mountaineers halfcourt defense to the test. West Virginia won on the Hoyas’ home court by 17 last year and Georgetown gets some measure of revenge here–they might not get a blowout but look for them to take the outright victory.
Bet Georgetown +6 over West Virginia
