NBA Betting Picks: Dallas @ Charlotte

Sportsbooks will be getting very busy again in the next few days as NHL hockey returns from their Winter Olympic break and college basketball begins their conference tournaments. Of course NBA betting will still be part of the menu and we’ve got a position in Monday night’s inter-conference game between the Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats. The Mavericks have been playing very good basketball of late, winning 7 of their L10 games and moving into a tie for third place in the West with the Utah Jazz. Charlotte is trying to hang on to the eighth and final playoff spot in the East just 1/2 game ahead of 9th place Miami.

Potential letdown spot for Dallas who’ll enter this game after running a gauntlet of very tough teams in the past couple of weeks and having played at home against New Orleans last night. Mavs have won 7 straight including wins over Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, LA Lakers and Atlanta. Charlotte has struggled of late and is desperate for any win they can get. Bobcats have only won 4 of their L10 but will enter this game well rested having last played on Friday night. As everyone knows by now, the Bobcats are a very dangerous home team with a 20-7 SU record on the season. The Mavs are a very good road team, of course, but this is one of the best pointspread spots for Charlotte–the Bobcats are 4-2 ATS this year as a home favorite of 3 or less and 16-6 over the past three years. Charlotte is the #2 team in the league in team defense, holding opponents to 94.4 points per game just .2 points behind league leading Boston in this category. Bobcats picked up Tyrus Thomas at the trade deadline to shore up their interior defense, so that number will likely get better. Bobcats need this game more then Dallas, and they gave the Mavs all they could handle on the road earlier this year before losing by 1. They’ll get the outright win here and at this price that’s all we need them to do.
