NBA Betting Free Picks: Atlanta @ LA Clippers
Added on Feb 17, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
More NBA betting action at the sportsbooks for Wednesday as the Atlanta Hawks travel west to face the LA Clippers. Hawks have played well all year and are a legitimate contender to make the Eastern Conference finals. The Clippers are a team that seems to have thrown in the towel on the year despite the emergence of Chris Kaman as a legitimate star.

The Los Angeles Clippers look every bit like a team that’s just playing out the string, which is a pretty sad state of affairs just after the All Star break. They relieved Mike Dunleavy of his coaching duties, and the team has responded to new coach Kim Hughes by going 0-4 SU and against the spread. They were throttled by Portland on Tuesday night in a game they were never competitive in. The Clippers have now covered just 2 of their L9 games while going 1-8 SU.
Atlanta may not catch the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference regular season title, but they’ve got a legit shot at second. They’re currently tied with Boston for third and are a mere 1 1/2 games behind second place Orlando. The Hawks have been a great pointspread team this season going 32-19 ATS overall including 25-14 as a favorite and 14-10 on the road. They’ve beaten up on substandard opposition, evidenced by a 15-7 ATS mark against teams with losing records. Hawks didn’t play great heading into the All Star break but they have the look of a team that’ll pick up the pace in the second half of the season while the Clippers look like a team playing for a lottery pick or sports betting fans.
