Back to this online sportsbook for more hockey betting action as the Atlanta Thrashers head to Minnesota to take on the Wild.  Thrashers have struggled of late, and recently shipped their superstar scorer Ilya Kovalchuk to the New Jersey Devils.  Minnesota is trying to get back into the Western Conference playoff picture, five points behind Calgary for the 8th and final postseason slot.

Atlanta Thrashers at Minnesota Wild

If Minnesota could play as well on the road as they do at home they’d be one of the best teams in the league.  The Wild are a very impressive 20-7-2 at home but are a woeful 9-19-2 on the road.  The Thrashers haven’t really done well at home or on the road this year, with a 13-10-4 record at Phillips Arena and 12-14-5 on enemy ice.  Thrashers have lost four of five, while Minnesota has won five of their last eight games.

Neither team is much on the defensive end of the ice, with both ranking in bottom 10 of the league in goals against per game.  Thrashers’ defense has been particularly porous, and they lead only Toronto and Edmonton in goals against per game.  Thrashers do have the #6 ranked scoring offense in the NHL and despite public perception that they lost a lot of that in the Kovalchuk trade that’s not entirely the case.

Atlanta has gone Over in 8 of their L12 games, while Minnesota has gone Over in 8 of their L11.  They haven’t played each other since 2008, but that meeting went Over the total as have four of the six previous meetings.  We’ll look for this one to go Over the total as well.
