College Basketball Betting Free Picks: Kansas @ Texas
Added on Feb 08, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
The Superbowl is over and now the people who bet on sports can get back to the day in/day out grind that produces the best wagering value. That’s definitely true in college basketball betting, and we’ll look to Big 12 action tonight as Kansas hits the road to take on Texas. The Longhorns have been struggling of late, while Kansas is continuing to play well.

Longhorns started the season 17-0 SU but have hit the skids in Big 12 play. They’ve now lost 4 of 6 SU, but to those of us who follow college basketball betting seriously this wasn’t a surprise since Texas has a tendency to underperform in conference action. Longhorns are now on a 6-23-1 ATS run in Big 12 play, and they’ve only covered 1 of 8 in conference this year. They’ve also covered only one of their last 10 games overall. Much of the reason for the ATS swoon at least is that they’ve been overvalued all year. Prices on the Longhorns may be heading in the other direction now, and if that trend continues we’ll be looking to play on Texas down the road.
Jayhawks haven’t exactly been tearing it up against the number of late despite their 21-1 SU record. Kansas has dropped 3 straight to the number as well as 4 of their last 6. At this price, however, we just need to pick the winner. Kasnas is the better team, and they’ve won 12 of the L17 meetings SU. They should win this one as well and we’ll gladly back the better side at what is essentially a ‘pick ‘em’ price.
