College Basketball Betting Picks: Miami-OH @ Western Michigan
Added on Feb 04, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Only two NBA games on the board today but plenty of march madness betting at sportsbooks worldwide. We’ll take a college basketball betting position in the Mid America Conference where Western Michigan will host Miami-OH. Although Western Michigan has a better overall record at 12-9 SU (compared to Miami-OH at 8-13), the Redhawks have a better conference mark.

Winning on the road is difficult in any sport at any level. In college hoops as in pro sports, only the elite level teams can win consistently in the role of a visitor. These two teams are perfect examples of that axiom. Miami-OH is 1-11 SU away from home, while Western Michigan is 8-2 SU in their own building. Miami is 5-7 ATS as a visitor, while WMU is 4-2 ATS at home. Broncos have also covered both spots as a favorite in this price range this season (-3′ to -6 point favorite) while Miami-OH has gone 0-2 as a corresponding priced underdog and 2-6 in the price range over the past three seasons.
With only one player (guard Kenny Hayes) averaging in double figures, Miami-OH lacks a ‘go to’ scorer which is a very important component of good road play. They also have limited backcourt scoring productivity, which is an additional concern. Western Michigan is led in scoring by David Kool (21.1 PPG) and Kool in particular will likely want some payback from last year’s 64-46 road loss last season. Kool was held scoreless from the floor, finishing with a pitiful 0-11 effort. Western Michigan has won and covered six of the last eight in the series on their home floor and we like them to do it here as well.
