NBA Basketball Betting Free Picks: Boston @ Washington

Short card of NBA betting action for Monday, compounded by a number of injuries that has most of the games off the board at major sportsbooks. We’ll look for a value position in the Eastern Conference as the Boston Celtics head south to take on the Washington Wizards. Wizards finally have some closure on the Gilbert Arenas situation, while the Celtics are just off a grueling stretch of games against NBA heavyweights.

The Washington Wizards weren’t a good team with Gilbert Arenas and they’re not a particularly good team without him either. Still, they’re not any worse and may actually play better as a team without the gun toting ‘Agent Zero’ in the lineup. Wizards have been streaky of late, covering 4 of 5 through 1/23 and then going on a 1-4 ATS run. They are on a two game SU winning streak entering this contest. Boston may be ripe for a letdown spot after a brutal stretch of games. They dropped a hard fought one point decision to the LA Lakers on Sunday and before that played three of their last four games against the Hawks, Magic and Blazers. The Celtics have only covered two of their last 10 games–Sunday’s game against the Lakers was a push with L.A. closing as a -1 favorite.
There’s no way the Celtics can be ‘up’ for a game against the hapless Wizards and they’ve got a game against Miami on deck. Washington has actually played the Celtics tough on their home floor of late, covering 3 of the L4 meetings winning 2 of those games outright. The Wizards have some talent and they may start to play better now that their off court distractions have been resolved. We’ll look for them to keep it within the number here.
