Short card of NHL betting opportunities tonight, but we’ll take what the sports betting site give us and look for value in the Dallas/Edmonton game. Edmonton has been struggling bigtime of late, having lost 9 straight and 11 of 12. Their biggest problem has been porous defense, allowing three or more goals in 10 of their last 12 games. Dallas is having similar problems, losing 7 of 10 and allowing three or more goals in 12 of their last 14 contests.

Edmonton may have their best chance of winning a game tonight that they’ve had in some time, but the way their defense has been playing they’ll need to score some goals to do it. Dallas, however, is facing a similar dynamic taking on a ‘beatable’ foe that has been struggling to keep the puck out of the net. Neither team is playing badly on the offensive end of the ice, so its a case where each has their best chance of winning here by ramping up the offense.
Stars have gone Over in 6 of their last 8 games, while Edmonton has gone Over in 5 of their last 7. That’s not surprising given the form of both teams, and that’s a tendency we expect to see continue tonight. For the season, Oilers are Over in 15 of 25 at home, while Stars are Over in 15 of 26 on the road. Dallas is tied for 10th in the league in scoring offense and while Edmonton’s season long stats aren’t good in that department they’ve been getting good offensive productivity lately. Teams have met twice already this year, with a total of 14 goals in the two games. 6 of the last 9 head to head have gone Over and we’ll look for more of the same tonight.
