NHL Hockey Betting Free Picks: Buffalo @ Phoenix
Added on Jan 19, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
While much of the NBA schedule starts early today due to the holiday, most of the NHL hockey betting action starts tonight. We’ll head for sports betting with a team that’s very familiar to us this year–the Phoenix Coyotes. Phoenix is in the middle of the Western Conference pack, and they’ll meet a similarly positioned team from the East as the Buffalo Sabres travels to the Arizona desert.
Buffalo Sabres at Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes have started to show more of a scoring punch in recent games, and have actually gone ‘Over’ in 3 of 4 and 4 of their last six. We think they’ll be back to their old ways tonight, however, as they welcome the defensive minded Sabres and the NHL’s leading goaltender Ryan Miller to town. We’ve talked a lot about the Coyotes this season and why they’re such a string ‘Under’ play night in and night out. Simply stated, they just don’t have the playmakers on offense to win games that go ‘Over’ the total. Buffalo has a little more offensive punch than the Coyotes, but have played only 18 ‘Overs’ in 46 games this season. On the road, they’ve gone ‘Under’ in 13 of 20 games.
Phoenix has only gone ‘Over’ in 14 of 49 games this year and only 8 of 27 at home. As the season progresses they may be worth looking ‘Over’ against teams that won’t play as tough on the defensive end, but the Sabres are anything but. 11 of the last 16 head to head have gone ‘Under’ as have 6 of 8 in Phoenix. Teams played in Buffalo earlier this season with the Sabres winning 2-1. Look for a similar style of game here with a similar final score.
