Months of plucking the waiver wire, sweating out injuries and byes and engineering shrewd trades, the 2012 fantasy football season comes down to this. The opportunity to seize fake glory (and, ahem, money) is now or next year. Most owners will stick with who got them here, but unless you’re lineup is stacked with studs, there will be some tough calls to make. Here are some recommendations to help you advance.

Matt Schaub (vs IND) – The Texans are smarting after getting annihilated by the Patriots last Monday night. That’s bad news for the upstart Colts, who have yielded 300-yard passers in their last two road games. Schaub has had a quietly solid fantasy season. In his last home game, he shredded the Jags for 527 yards and five touchdowns. If you need him, use him.

David Wilson (@ ATL) – With Ahmad Bradshaw ruled out, the rookie from Virginia Tech will finally be in the spotlight against the conference leading Falcons. Wilson’s talents were on full display last week when he rushed for a pair of scores and returned a kickoff for six against the Saints. The Falcons run defense ranks 23rd and has been extra vulnerable as of late. If you’re searching for a flex, Wilson is your man.

Knowshon Moreno (@ BAL) – Remember this guy? Moreno went from nearly being cut in the preseason to relevant in December due to Willis McGahee’s knee injury. The Ravens run defense has been ripped by Dwyer/Redman and Alfred Williams in consecutive weeks. Moreno has totaled at least 83 yards in three straight, so he makes a safe if not spectacular option.

Michael Crabtree (@ NE) – Crabtree is the definition of inconsistency, but he and Colin Kaepernick have developed some nice chemistry in the last two games, connecting for 16 receptions for 194 yards. Crabs is due for a touchdown and the Pats secondary continues to be forgiving to opposing receivers.

Lance Moore (vs TB) – Moore was a bust in the shootout with the Giants after catching one ball for 26 yards. But he’s much better at home and draws a terrible Bucs secondary that was just carved up Eagles rookie quarterback Nick Foles. In what should be a high scoring contest, Moore is in line for a big Sunday, especially in PPR leagues.

Tony Scheffler (@ ARZ) – With the Lions receiving corps decimated by injury, Scheffler has suddenly become a viable start at tight end. He scored his first touchdown of the season last Sunday and will face a Cardinals defense that has been exploited by the position in recent weeks.  If you’re struggling for a name to plug in, pull Scheffler’s out of the hat.
