NFL Betting: Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Added on Nov 25, 2012 by Jack Thurman in
Two teams suffering through miserable seasons face off in Florida as the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans. The Jags are considered by many to be the worst team in the NFL. They limp into this game with a 1-9 SU record and though they are a (slightly) more respectable 4-5-1 ATS. Of course most of their success came earlier this year and they’re mired in a 7 game losing streak during which they’ve gone 3-4 ATS. The Titans are 4-6 SU this year–a bad season but worlds better than the miserable Jaguars.

Tempted to play Tennessee here—Titans coming off their best game of the year at Miami and a bye week catch the Jags off that OT loss to Houston. Sure, it may have been a ‘moral victory’ but now it’s back to reality and a 7 game SU losing streak. Houston’s defense had a bad game, but Jacksonville’s defense is just bad—they gave up 640 yards, 5 TD passes and a ridiculous 39 first downs. Chris Johnson can disappear faster than Lance Burton but he’s been in good form of late with five straight games of 90+ yards. For those of you who like systems: playing a division road favorite off a bye in November is a perfect 15-0 ATS in the past decade. Titans not a good team but are significantly better than the lowly Jags. Some interest in the over but just can’t trust the Jacksonville playmakers to make it work.
The Jags are just a mess. They’re being forced to start journeyman backup Chad Henne as starter Blaine Gabbert is injured. A bigger hole is left by the absence of Maurice Jones Drew who is out of action and may be done for the year. That’s a huge problem since Jacksonville completely lacks playmakers in the wide receiver corps. The can’t pass the ball, can’t run the ball and can’t stop anyone on defense. Tennessee may not be a great team but they’re good enough to beat up on a miserable Jacksonville team that is seriously depleted by injuries and quickly losing interest in this season. Titans roll and cover this spread with ease.
