The Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans are fairly close in terms of their win/loss records but in reality these teams are heading in different directions. The Dolphins are 4-4 but there’s a lot of enthusiasm surrounding this team due in large part to their stout defense and overall high level of competitiveness. The Titans are 3-6 but the team is a train wreck–to the extent that their owner has ‘put them on notice’ and suggested that head coach Mike Munchak could be ‘one and done’.

The Miami Dolphins’ struggles on their home field in recent years has become a thing of legend but the times may be changing. Dating back to 2010 the Dolphins are 6-11 ATS at Sun Life Stadium but are 1-1 this year. The price on this game underscores just how significantly the culture of this team has changed under Joe Philbin–the Dolphins are a -6 point home favorite. In previous years such a generous price would have been an easy play against Miami but not given the improvements in the Dolphins team and the dismal state of the Tennessee Titans.

Titans are a mess—so much so that owner Bud Adams has all but questioned their manhood and put head coach Mike Munchak on notice. The bad news for them is that they’ve got a horrible matchup here. Dolphins have the league’s #3 ranked rushing defense and if Tennessee is going to win they’re going to have to establish the run. Chris Johnson is erratic—he had 141 yards in a losing effort against the Bears but that’s one of only three times this year he’s topped 100 yards in a game. Then again, the Titans could at least put up a good effort this week coming off an embarrassment. Dolphins not a team that can usually cover a margin due to their pedestrian offense so they’re a team I’d rather play as a dog than as a favorite. Hard to see either team doing much offensively so the Under is probably the best play here. Dolphins UN in 11 of their last 15 as a favorite and that’s the way we’ll play it. Five of Tennessee’s losses this year are by more than 21 points so it’s hard to see them being competitive here.
