Week 6 Fantasy Football Picks
Added on Oct 12, 2012 by Scott in
Taking into account the bye week and a spate of injuries, this will likely be the toughest week for fantasy owners to fill out their lineups. There’s no Cam Newton, Steve Smith, Drew Brees, Marques Colston, Jimmy Graham, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall or Maurice Jones-Drew. And with key contributors like Hakeem Nicks, Greg Jennings, Cedric Benson, Donald Brown and Ryan Williams out, many will be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Here are some players to ponder.
Brandon Weeden (vs. CIN) – The rookie quarterback leads the league with nine interceptions, which is bad. He’s also tossed for 611 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the last two games, which s good. The Bengals pass defense is decent and did a solid job against fellow rook Ryan Tannehill last Sunday. But, if you’re hurting for a signal-caller, Weeden should be serviceable if not spectacular.
DeMarco Murray (@ BAL) – The once vaunted Ravens run defense is a bit shaky these days. Age and injury have slowed them, especially against quick backs like Jamaal Charles who gashed them for 140 yards in Week 5. Murray has been a major disappointment in his sophomore season; he’s rushed for less than 45 yards in each of his last three starts and has scored only once. However, Dallas needs to get him going to alleviate pressure on Tony Romo. This is the week Murray gets on track.
Vick Ballard (@ NYJ) – The Jets rank 31st versus the run. The Colts are netting only 97 yards per game on the ground. Something has to give. With starter Donald Brown sidelined, Ballard will get a shot to balance the pass heavy offense. Odds are he won’t go nuts, but 70 yards and a touchdown isn’t out of the question.
Andre Roberts (vs. BUF) – The Bills defense as a whole is atrocious, having allowed 97 points in the last two weeks. Arizona isn’t exactly lighting it up, but they’re down to their fourth-string running back, so it will be Kevin Kolb airing it out all afternoon. Roberts leads the team with four scores. He makes a solid number three receiver or flex option.
Randall Cobb (@ HOU) – It looks like Greg Jennings won’t be able to play Sunday night, or at the very least will be limited. The Packers need this game badly to avoid a shocking 2-4 start. It won’t be easy to exploit the Texans third ranked pass defense, but the speedy Cobb is a good bet for a big play or two.
Brent Celek (vs. DET) – The Eagles offense is stuck in mud due to a glut of ill-timed turnovers. They’re best output came in Week 2 versus the Ravens when Celek caught 8 balls for 157 yards. The Lions have been shredded by Vernon Davis and Jared Cook. If you’re desperate at tight end, Celek is worth a look.
