The first Sunday of the 2012 NFL season is just three days away, meaning time is running out for injured players to get healthy. Some of the league’s higher profile players are nursing hurts that may or may not prevent them from taking the field. Here’s an update of who’s in and who’s out for this weekend’s slate of games.

Justin Blackmon (Jaguars) – The rookie wideout turned an ankle in practice yesterday. It isn’t thought to be serious, but ankle injuries have a tendency to be nagging.

Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) – Beast Mode has been dealing with back spasms for the last couple of weeks. It he isn’t able to practice today or tomorrow, it’s likely he’ll sit for Sunday’s matchup at Arizona. Fantasy owners should grab Robert Turbin if he’s still available.

Brandon Meriweather (Redskins) - The sprained left knee suffered in Monday’s practice will sideline Meriweather for at least two weeks according to head coach Mike Shanahan. With him and Tanard Jackson both missing from the lineup on Sunday, look for the Saints offense to have a huge day.

Stevie Johnson (Bills) - A sore groin has limited Johnson in practice this week. With no other Bills receivers of note, they can ill afford to be without Johnson for even one game.

Adrian Peterson (Vikings) – The mystery surrounding AP continues to be a headache. Since he hasn’t taken contact yet don’t expect him to do much of anything except stand on the sidelines. The Vikings would be wise to hold him out until they’re absolutely sure he’s ready.

Ryan Mathews (Chargers) – The broken clavicle still hasn’t fully healed, so it’s almost a certainty Mathews won’t be able to go on Monday night. Ronnie Brown sill start in his place.

Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers) – Mendenhall was a surprise participant at Wednesday’s practice fuleing speculation that he might get a few snaps in Denver. Like Peterson, team doctors will likely err on the side of caution and not rush him back.
