Which Team Has the Most Dangerous Offense?

Today’s NFL is all about offense. If you can’t score points on a week to week basis, it’s difficult to compete for a Lombardi Trophy. The Giants defense may have been dominant during last season’s playoffs, but it was El Manning and the rest of the Big Blue attack that propelled them toward a championship run. On the surface, 2012 appears to be loaded with potent scoring machines. But which one is the most dangerous?
Green Bay Packers – Led by reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers, the Pack boasts as many weapons in the vertical passing game as any team in the league. Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley, Donald Driver and a rising Randall Cobb provide Rodgers a plethora of options. However, unless the newly signed Cedric Benson can carry the load at running back, the backfield is still a hindrance.
New England Patriots – A healthy Tom Brady means the Pats’ track meet system will remain one of the deadliest. The dynamic tight end duo of Gronkowski-Hernandez, possession demon Wes Welker and new vertical threat Brandon Lloyd should be a nightmarish quartet to deal with in 2012. Like Green Bay, the backfield is a complete unknown now that Benjarvis Green-Ellis is gone.
New Orleans Saints – Drew Brees, Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham are proven studs. The committee of Sproles, Thomas and Ingram are capable of inflicting damage running and receiving. Losing Robert Meachem shouldn’t hurt much and Lance Moore and Devery Henderson make enough plays to cause defenses headaches.
Philadelphia Eagles – In terms of pure speed and athleticism, the Eagles arsenal is fully stocked. Michael Vick, Shady McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant and Brent Celek can all move the chains. However, the injury and turnover prone Vick needs to reclaim the consistency from 2010 for the Birds to reach new heights.
New York Giants – The free agent exits of Mario Manningham and Brandon Jacobs to San Francisco will stretch the G-Men’s depth, but rookies Rueben Randle and David Wilson have the talent to fill the voids. Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw must stay healthy and Victor Cruz has to prove he’s not a one-year wonder for Eli Manning to post another monster season.
Detroit Lions – We know what Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson can do, but what about the rest of the Lions offense? Is Titus Young ready to become a legit starter? Can Mikel Leshoure and Jahvid Best stay out of the trainer’s room? Can Brandon Pettigrew take another step toward stardom? If the answers to all three of these questions are yes, then Detroit will be tough to stop.
