Kenny Britt Arrested, Again

Geez, training camps can’t open soon enough. The longer the summer goes, the more time NFL players have to get themselves in a legal pickle. Dez Bryant and Marshawn Lynch were pinched in recent days, and now Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt is making headlines after being arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated while attempting to enter Fort Campbell military base in Kentucky.
Britt was administered a field sobriety test by the Fort Campbell military police prior to being taken into custody. He reportedly failed the test, which was the reason given for his incarceration.
“We’ve got civilian guards and military police and soldiers at the gates. As he attempted to come on to the post there was some suspicion (of driving while intoxicated),” Fort Campbell spokesperson Bob Jenkins said.
Britt last played in a game on September 25, 2011. On that day he tore the MCL and ACL in his right knee, causing him to miss the rest of the season. He has since undergone multiple surgeries on both knees, which has put his availability for the start of the impending season in jeopardy.
More troubling than his immediate health is his growing criminal record. This marks his seventh brush with the law since entering the league in 2009. He was given a free pass by Commissioner Roger Goodell last summer for a pair of incidents that occurred during the lockout. It’s safe to assume he won’t be given a reprieve this time around, should he be found guilty.
Britt’s immense talent has been overshadowed by his checkered antics. Questions regarding his character and attitude surfaced during the lead up to the ’09 draft, which definitely impacted his stock in the eyes of several teams. He’s only 23, but patience from the league and the Titans must be wearing thin. For all the skill and potential he brings to the game, he just can’t seem to get out of his own way.
