Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is upset. About what, no one seems to know, but the dynamic dual threat playmaker isn’t happy with the Vikings organization and has now requested a trade. Is it a negotiating ploy for a new contract or is he genuinely displeased with how he’s being treated by the team? Harvin isn’t saying, although he wants the issues resolved before training camp begins.

Harvin showed up at Minnesota’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, but wasted little time voicing his complaints.

“I just put it this way, there’s a lot of different things that have to be sorted out,” Harvin said Tuesday. “Just haven’t been really happy lately. We’ve got a couple of things to work on. I’m here in the classroom. We’ll go from there.”

Vague comments aside, the ex-Gator ramped up his campaign of displeasure today by requesting a trade, according to sources at ESPN. If he has a problem with his current contract, which has two years remaining, beating around the bush doesn’t seem like a sound strategy.

As good as he’s been since 2009, he hasn’t exactly set the league on fire, so claiming that he outperformed the deal will probably fall on deaf ears in the front office. Not to mention, he hasn’t been a picture of health either, battling migraine headaches, ankle and rib injuries in his first three years.  He is currently recovering from offseason shoulder surgery to remove bone spurs.

Regardless of demands, it’s doubtful the Vikings will entertain a trade. With Adrian Peterson rehabbing a torn ACL suffered last December, Harvin is the only legitimate offensive weapon on the roster. Shipping such a skilled talent elsewhere would be foolish for a team in rebuilding mode, especially one staring up at three quality rivals in the NFC North.

Harvin set career highs in 2011 with 87 catches for 967 yards and 52 rush attempts for 345 yards.
