Tom Brady wasn’t the only playoff quarterback that skipped practice this week–New York Giants’ signal caller Eli Manning left practice early on Wednesday due to what is being described as a ‘stomach bug’. Manning was back at practice on Thursday claiming that he’s back to 100%.

Manning said that all is well after Thursday’s session:

“Yeah, I am 100 percent. Had a full practice, did everything, took every rep. Feel good.”

Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride suggested that manning looked a little under the weather:

“He took great offense when I said he still looked pale to me. It’s the winter, Coach, of course I look pale.’ But he did look a little pale. We did everything with him. We maybe slowed down a couple of the drills in between our work sessions.”

Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin said that Manning’s illness didn’t impact his preparation for the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers:

“When he got back to work today, had a nice breakfast, seemed to do fine. I’m sure he is not quite himself but almost.”

“[But as far as] his preparation, he had done all the work prior to. He had already done all his classroom work. What he missed was the after-practice work and then he was able to come in this morning and do some of that.”

Manning described his treatment for the stomach ailment:

“Once we were out there at practice, it wasn’t going well. So try to be smart and say hopefully this will be a little 24-hour bug. Came back in and got some fluids and tried to make sure [I] didn’t make it worse. Fortunate it happened on a Wednesday and not later in the week.”

Manning also says he’s not concern about the possibility of rain in San Francisco:

“I think I am fine throwing in the rain. It is not something I worry about. I’ve had success throwing in rain games. If it is going to be a wet game, I’ve always felt the offense has an advantage from throwing the ball. Receivers have an advantage when the ground is wet. They know where they are going, they know what they are doing, they should come out of their breaks a little bit better. We should not be the ones slipping. It’s usually the defensive side that slips.”

The Giants are +2′ point NFL betting underdogs in the game.
