Giants’ DE Tuck Has MRI On Toe

The New York Giants have dealt with their fair share of injuries this season and the news could be getting worse. Defensive end Justin Tuck today underwent an MRI on his injured toe. He played through the pain against Dallas on Sunday night and he’s not listed on the current injury report.
According to Tuck even though the results of the MRI haven’t been returned he’s planning to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday:
“I haven’t heard (yet). I’ll talk to the (doctors) tomorrow but as of right now, I don’t know.”
Of course, the way he described his performance against the Cowboys wasn’t the type of thing that instills coaches with optimism about his status:
“I played on one leg. It’s trying to fight through it. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go 100 percent but I’m proud of my teammates and proud of how we fought and we got the victory, that’s the main thing and the only thing matters.”
He admits that the injury could be a problem going forward:
“I’m as stubborn as they come and if I can get on the football field, I’m going to be there. If it continues to go at this rate, it will get to a point where we have to worry about it but the frustrating thing is the Green Bay game I felt better than I had all year, like over the hump, but another setback.”
He did have a little bit of good news:
“It feels OK, I’ll say that. It doesn’t feel as bad as it did last night.”
Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin says he’s trying to remain positive about injuries not only to Tuck but to Osi Umenyiora, Kenny Phillips and David Bass:
“We are hoping but we will have to wait and see. This stuff is day to day and you get excited and then you get a report and it is not quite as positive as you thought it might be. We will wait. It is early. We got tomorrow and, treatment-wise, Wednesday before we get onto the field. Let’s just see how that plays out.”
The Giants are currently -7 point NFL betting favorites against the Washington Redskins with the total set at 46.
