Fantasy Football: Week 7 Value Picks
Added on Oct 20, 2011 by Scott in
The bye weeks continue and it so happens a wave of big name players will be sitting home this weekend thus making life difficult for fantasy owners. Tom Brady, Mike Vick, Fred Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Wes Welker, A.J. Green and Jeremy Maclin are just some of the weekly starters who will be unavailable. Looking for answers? We have solutions. Here are Week 7′s value picks.
Sam Bradford (@ DAL) – This is one is a bit of a reach for two reasons: 1) Bradford is still nursing a high ankle sprain and 2) the Cowboys defense is improving. However, it looks like Bradford will be under center barring a major setback. The Rams should get blown out which means the offense will be playing catchup most of the game. Bradford threw for 323 yards in a similar scenario at Green Bay last week. The addition of Brandon Lloyd gives him a proven downfield target. Desperate Vick and Brady owners should consider Sam a decent replacement.
DeMarco Murray/Tashard Choice (vs. STL) – Felix Jones is living up to his brittle reputation with a bum shoulder and high ankle sprain, thus opening the door for both Murray and Choice. Murray is the hot name on the waiver wire, but don’t discount Choice. The veteran back may have fallen out of favor but he knows the offense better than the rookie. That being said, both are solid options against the Rams 32nd ranked rush defense.
Torrey Smith (@ JAC) – The speedy rookie has been hit or miss this season. He has only nine receptions, but three have gone for 40-plus yards. The Jaguars secondary is ranked 8th overall, although they have been exploited over the top by A.J. Green, Jimmy Graham and Mike Wallace in recent weeks. With Lee Evans out with a bad ankle, Smith should get a couple of deep looks on Monday night. Just don’t expect huge numbers.
Heath Miller (@ ARZ) – The Cardinals are giving up production to tight ends pretty much every week. Greg Olsen, Jeremy Shockey, Fred Davis and Jake Ballard have all either scored or posted over 50 yards. Miller has been relatively quiet this season, so he’s never a guarantee to be involved in the gameplan. However, Mike Wallace will be limited due to a bad hamstring which should give Miller more opportunities against Arizona’s slow linebackers.
Browns D/ST (vs. SEA) – The Browns defense has been okay through five games. Seattle’s offense is erratic at best, ranking near the bottom in every major category. They could also be without quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who is recovering from a pectoral strain. Backup Charlie Whitehurst was sharp in relief of Jackson two weeks ago, but he’s struggled as a starter. Also, Josh Cribbs is long overdue for a return touchdown.
