Fantasy Football: Week 6 Value Picks
Added on Oct 13, 2011 by Scott in
Navigating the bye weeks can cause major headaches in fantasy football. Last Sunday, the likes of Ray Rice, Peyton Hillis, Tony Romo and Santana Moss were all sitting home while owners were scrambling to fill out starting lineups. This week, replacements must be found for Larry Fitzgerald, Chris Wells, Chris Johnson and the entire Chargers offense. Need solutions? We have answers. Here are some nice value picks for Week 6.
Andy Dalton (vs. IND) – The redheaded rookie has been surprisingly effective through his first five starts. He’s accounted for two touchdowns in three of five games and has amassed yardage totals of 332 and 298 thus far. Now he gets to face a struggling Colts secondary that has surrendered eight scores via the pass, including four last week to Matt Cassel. Expect a solid, if not spectacular, outing for Dalton.
Earnest Graham (vs. NO) – It appears LeGarrette Blount won’t play due to a bum knee. That leaves the veteran Graham to handle the bulk of the running duties. He’s yet to receive more than eight carries in any one game, but he has snagged 23 catches for 143 yards. The Saints have been decent versus the rush, although both DeAngelo Williams and Maurice Jones-Drew have ripped off long scampers against them. Graham definitely presents more value in PPR leagues, but if you’re a Blount, Wells or Ryan Mathews owner, he’s worth a look.
David Nelson (@ NYG) – The Giants pass defense is allowing guys like Danario Alexander and Doug Baldwin to post gaudy numbers. After a hot start, Nelson has been nearly invisible in the Bills’ last two games, receiving only five targets. With an injury to Donald Jones, Nelson will slide from the slot to the outside, which may or may not help his production. In what could be a shootout, he makes a viable option as a number three wideout.
Benjamin Watson (@ Oak) – Watson is quietly putting together another impressive season in the Browns west coast attack. He’s been targeted 19 times in his last two games and now draws a Raiders defense ranked 28th versus the pass. Texans tight ends Owen Daniels and Joel Dreesen lit them up for 201 yards and a touchdown last Sunday. Watson should get plenty of opportunities to make plays.
Redskins D/ST (vs. PHI) – The last time the Eagles visited D.C. things didn’t go too well for the home team. The ‘Skins were shredded for 592 yards and 59 points. That was 2010. Both teams are headed in opposite directions in 2011. The Eagles are still piling up yardage, but are saddled with a -10 turnover ratio. Meanwhile, Washington’s D is yielding the third fewest points (15.8) per game and has recorded 15 sacks. Payback will be on their minds, so start them with confidence.
