Pimlico oddsmaker Frank Carulli has set the opening ‘morning line’ Preakness Stakes betting odds shortly after the post position draw was completed on Wednesday . Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom will start from position 11 and was set as the 2-1 favorite. Kentucky Derby post time favorite Dialed In is the second wagering choice at 9-2.  The only other horse with single digit odds on the morning line was Mucho Macho Man–who finished third in the Kentucky Derby–at 6-1.

The Steve Assmussen trained Astrology will start from the rail and is one of a logjam of horses priced in the low double digits at 15-1.  Kentucky Derby veteran Shackleford is priced at 12-1 along with the Todd Pletcher trained Dance City.  Sway Away and Midnight Interlude are priced at 15-1 on the Preakness betting morning line.  King Congie, Flashpoint and Mr. Commons at at  20-1 with Wood Memorial also-ran Norman Asbjornson priced as the longshot at 30-1 along with Concealed Identity and Isn’t He Perfect.

The Preakness Stakes weekend will get underway on Friday with a race card headlined by the 87th running of the Black Eyed Susan for three year old fillies.  The Preakness Stakes will be the highlight of Saturday’s racing card at Pimlico with TV coverage provided by NBC in the United States.  The Preakness is the second leg of horse racing’s elusive Triple Crown and if Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom manages to get the victory here it’ll put a huge spotlight on the Belmont Stakes held at New York’s Belmont Park on June 11th.  There have been only 11 Triple Crown winners in the history of the sport and none since Affirmed accomplished the ‘trifecta’ in 1978.

Below is the full list of Preakness Morning Line odds with post position:
