Kobe Bryant Will Play On Sprained Ankle

It will take a lot more than a sprained left ankle to keep Kobe Bryant from taking the floor in tonight’s huge Game 5 matchup with the pesky Hornets. In fact, Bryant went against Lakers’ brass by refusing X-rays and an MRI, instead relying on a treatment regimen of icing and massage. So, regardless of how bad the injury may or may not be, expect Bryant to be in the lineup.
Bryant’s ankle was apparently gimpy prior to Sunday’s game and he’s been dealing with ankle issues throughout the season, not to mention his career. Playing through pain is par for the course.
Bryant has been up and down so far in the series and hit only 5-18 shots in Sunday’s loss. His health might not matter though if he and his teammates don’t do a better job defending Chris Paul, who is shooting 57% from the field and averaging 25.5 points, 11.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds per game.
The Hornets are younger and appear hungrier than the two-time defending champs. To avoid a shocking first-round upset, Bryant must lead the way, with or without a bad ankle.
