After two days of wondering, Marlins left fielder Logan Morrison was informed by doctors his sprained left arch will keep him sidelined 2 to 4 weeks. The injury occurred Tuesday night in Morrison’s first plate appearance against the Pirates. The hard cast on his leg is scheduled to be removed Monday at which time he’ll be reevaluated.
The 23-year-old is hitting .327 and leads the Marlins in home runs (4) and RBI (11). He’s expected to be shipped to the DL, but the exact timetable for his return will depend on how quickly the ligaments heal. Emilio Bonifacio has replaced him in the lineup the last two games.
The Marlins sit at 11-6, second in the NL East, and winners of three straight. Tonight, they begin a weekend series with the Rockies, who are a MLB-best 13-5.
