Relatively speaking its a short card of NBA betting action for Saturday with only five games but they’re all very attractive wagering propositions.  The next game on our hit parade is a Western Conference matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors.  Mavs heading to the playoffs, Warriors aren’t.

‘Triple witching hour’ for the Golden State Warriors as they get the Dallas Mavericks tonight–it’s a bad tactical matchup, they’re in bad form and they’re catching the Mavs off of an embarrassing loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.  Let’s start with the matchup–the Warriors are a decent offensive team but an awful defensive team ranking #29 in scoring defense.  Dallas is an upper table team on both ends of the court and they’ve made mincemeat out of bad defensive teams in the second half of the season going 21-1 SU/15-7 ATS.  The Warriors get no help from the respective form of the teams in this game–Dallas has been among the best teams in the league since Dirk Nowitzki returned from injury going 13-6 in their last 19 games.  The Mavs are only 9-9 ATS in that stretch but they’ve been most profitable on the road this season going 24-14 ATS.  They’ve also gone 10-5 ATS against the Pacific Division this year and should be in a particularly disagreeable mood following a 28 point drubbing at the hands of the Lakers.

The Warriors have shown some improvement this season but have looked awful down the stretch losing 15 of their last 21 including 8 of their last 10.  More significantly, they’ve gone 7-14 ATS in their last 21 and 8-10 ATS in their last 10.  That suggests a team that doesn’t cover unless they win outright.  Furthermore, their win/covers have come against bottom feeders like Cleveland, Washington and Minnesota (the exception being an upset win over Orlando that was more a function of a bad matchup and a tough scheduling spot for the Magic).  Mavs have won all three matchups against Golden State this year going 2-1 ATS.  They’ve covered 6 of the last 10 in the series overall including 3 of 4 at Golden State.  Usually we don’t like laying points on the road–even with teams of Dallas’ class–but this should be a rout.
