Breaking Down UFC 127: Chris Lytle Vs Brian Ebersole

Chris Lytle Vs Brian Ebersole
The original match was to be Chris Lytle Vs Carlos Condit, but Condit was forced off the card with an injury. The UFC brought in grizzled MMA veteran Brian Ebersole to take the bout, and to make his UFC debut. The average MMA fan won’t know much about Ebersole, but he has amassed a shocking 62 fights spanning the past decade. He has fought all over the world with every organization you can think of that ISN’T the UFC.
Ebersole (46-14-1-1 ) is going to have his hands full with Chris Lytle. Fighting Chris is difficult enough when you have a full 10-12 week camp, but coming in late notice is going to be a rough go for him. Hopefully he will garner some attention from the UFC brass for stepping up like this, because I would hate to see Ebersole cut after one loss. It really seems like he has been fighting his whole career to make it into the UFC, and Lytle is a tough first opponent for anyone. I think this is what makes Ebersole so dangerous though. He has a lot of momentum going into this fight, as he as only lost once since 2007 to Hectar Lombard, and is riding a 7 fight win streak.
Chris Lytle had his first UFC fight at UFC 28, he hasn’t been with them the whole time, but he has taken only one fight outside of the UFC since 2006. At UFC 119, Lytle won a questionable decision against Matt Serra, a guy who had beat him in the past, and has also defeated Matt Brown, Brian Foster, and Kevin Burns. Lytle also has the ability to defeat a guy like Ebersole, and he has been taking steps up in competition for a while now. You can always expect an exciting fight from Chris Lytle, and you can tell by his fight of the night awards. He Won; Fight Of The Night Honors (Four times,) Knock Out Of The Night Honors (One time), and Submission Of The Night Honors (Two times.)
This is a hard fight to pick, because we really don’t know how good the competition that Ebersole has been facing is. We know they are decent fighters, but we don’t know where guys like Carlos Newton are in their careers. If Ebersole can rely on his experience, and avoid the Octagon Jitters, he certainly has a chance to beat Chris Lytle. Since no one has finished Chris Lytle, with the exception of Thiago Alves who defeated him by a cut stoppage, Ebersole is going to have to try and win this one by decision. However, I don’t see him getting that chance, as I expect Lytle to submit Ebersole sometime in the second round.

I agree, this is a tough one to call. I have a lot of respect for Chris but recognise Brians contribution to MMA here in Australia. He has a wealth of experience, which he loves to share. He is smart and articulate and a great role madel for his chosen sport.
Who will win?, my heart tells me Brian but my head tell me Chris
