Miami Heat at Boston Celtics

After a slow start the Miami Heat are living up to the hype and have become a well oiled basketball machine.  They enter today’s game at the TD BankNorth Garden in Boston having won 8 straight and 9 of 10 going 7-3 ATS during that run.  They’ve been a great basketball betting investment on the road with a 19-9 SU/17-10 ATS record.  This is a potentially dangerous spot for the Heat–since a February 3 victory over Orlando they haven’t faced a very high level of opposition beating Charlotte and Detroit on the road and Indiana and the LA Clippers at home.  The Celtics have lost 3 of their last 4 games but they were against Charlotte on the road and Dallas and the Lakers at home.

For all of the recent success that Miami has enjoyed there’s a lot of pressure on them entering this game.  Could the Celtics be getting ‘inside the head’ of LeBron James?  Boston unceremoniously dumped the Cavs from the playoffs last season and they’ve won and covered both meetings against LeBron’s new team this season.  The Celtics have a lot of injuries at the moment, but they’re a mentally tough and experienced team with a reputation for biding their time during the regular season to set up a big playoff run.  At the same time, the most important components of their roster are all healthy and they’re a team that has shown a tendency to ‘pick their spots’ for big efforts during the regular season.  They also ‘show up’ more often than not when they’re facing a team perceived as ‘superior’ as evidenced by a 6-2 ATS record as an underdog this year.  Miami is just 12-9 SU/10-9-2 ATS against opponents with winning records this season.  We’ll back the defensively tenacious home team and look for them to continue the mojo they have on LeBron.

Bet Boston Celtics +2 over Miami Heat
